Fabrizio Romano: FC Barcelona to consider Manchester United € 65 million offer for Frenkie de Jong the Independent

Manchester United are reportedly getting closer to a deal with FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Diabły increased their offer to EUR 65 million. Their initial bid of € 60 million plus extras was rejected.

Romano states: “Manchester United is always in direct contact with Barça.”

“The verbal proposal currently being discussed between the clubs amounts to around 65 million euros of guaranteed fee, after rejecting 60 million euros plus the offer to open bonuses.”

“Still no change on the side of players and agents.”

Earlier, we discussed many reports from Spain claiming that the deal could close as early as Thursday.

Ian Whittell (The Telegraph) mentions a fee of € 80 million that Barcelona could accept.

The Catalan club is in a financial crisis and needs money to support its transfer activities.

The sale of the 25-year-old midfielder could allow Xavi to rebuild the team in his form.

For Man Utd, De Jong would be a great transfer. The Dutchman exudes class and can immediately help United.

He’s worked with Ten Hag before, so it would fit in well with his system.

United fans will hope that once this deal is finalized, the club can move on to other key goals.

Lisandro Martinez and Ajax’s Antony are the other two players with strong ties to Old Trafford, but knowing United they could easily surprise a surprise this summer.
