Manchester United are interested in winning over Sporting Lisbon’s center-back Goncalo Inacio.
According to Portugal’s Abola outlet (via Sport Witness), United is leading the race to sign a contract with a defensive star and is close to triggering its € 40 million waiver clause with a 5 million bonus.
Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are the other two clubs eager to sign with Inacio, but the Red Devils have an edge over the competition.
Inacio is said to prefer to move to Old Trafford due to club status.
United were linked to Jurrien Timber of Ajax and Pau Torres of Villarreal, and Erik ten Hag was looking for a reinforcement on the defensive this summer.
Inacio could be an interesting option as a perspective.
The 20-year-old has already established himself as a starter in the sports team of Ruben Amorim.
Brilliant in possession, Inacio plays well from the rear and boasts an average of 76 passes per game.

The Portuguese is positively flexible and can operate his back in three or in pairs.
While not the tallest, he boasts great mobility and speed, and has all the physical attributes to be a success in the Premier League.
While Timber may be Ten Hag’s first pick, United must not overlook Inacio.
He shows a quick improvement in the young sports team and has the potential to be one of the best center-backs in the world.
